'Men of Iron and Steel', Mushet Walk Coleford, 2014. Funded by Coleford Town Council.

Father and son David and Robert Mushet lived in Coleford in the 19th Century, rolling out innovative patents for casting iron alloys, blast furnace design, crucibles, and most notably Robert's work on casting self hardening steels.

'Men of Iron and Steel', 2 mins, time lapse film of the painting of the mural.

Robert Mushet made the first hardened steel railway tracks but lost the patent rights for self hardening cast steel to Bessemer from Sheffield and died in poverty.

150 years ago Coleford was at the very cutting edge of the industrial revolution, being a quiet forest town now with nothing to show for it's history but a few overgrown ruins, it's hard to imagine.
