Broadwell Memorial Hall was built from public
(miners) donations after WW1. During WW2 Italian prisoners of war decorated
it with pillars, plaster relief and murals.
Sometime decades ago, all the paintings got painted
over, and as part of a total building renovation I was asked to repaint it.
No photograph of it could be found, and though some could remember it
painted, they couldn't remember enough to give me much guidance. So I'm
hoping the painting sits well with all that history.
It's the best stage in Coleford, with a sprung
dance floor, a mirror wall for ballet, an active karate club and more.
