The Dented Bascinet, 2024

The Dented Bascinet gaming hub in Coleford asked me to paint up a collage of English Civil War pamphlets. It was the first modern propaganda war -the first major English conflict post the invention of the printing press.

The pamphlets remind me of facebook posts, a picture with short text of an inflamatory nature. It feels to me like the main difference is that in these pamphlets people know the protagonists, whereas facebook posts feel quite anonomous.

They are a graphic reminder of the horror of civil war, a place well worth avoiding.
