Hats and patterns from around the world, Mighty Oaks Little Acorns Nursery, Goucester, 2019.
Treadworth in Goucester is a multi cultural area, and they wanted a bold image to reflect that in the entranceway of hats and patterns.
To solve the problem of the Islamic issue around depicting faces, I cut holes in the boards I installed at child head heights, so the children could put their heads through and be seen in the different muti cultural head gear.
I love the drawing of any age group, so the children drew me some people which I painted up with their help on the inside of the structure.
The children loved seeing their drawings painted up and knew without being told what the face holes were for.
